Date with the Dead by Chris Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
As if high school isn't hard enough, your only friend turns out to a dead guy no one else can see. I LOVE the way Chris Myers dove straight into the story. No roundabout intro or prologue, just here it is. I immediately connected with Jolie because of her awkwardness. All that snark made her more interesting too.
For older teens, I think is a fantastic book especially if they are having a tough time at school. Date with the Dead is well-deserved entertainment. The perception of bad versus good, is exactly that perception. I felt that even the mean characters had some heart to them. Maybe this was the author's way of saying don't judge too quickly.
Would I recommend this read? Absolutely, this is one of the better indie books I have read and I look forward to reading other books by the same author.
Overall assessment:
Content: 4/5
Editing: 4/5
Formatting: 4/5
Pacing: 4/5
Offensive content?: Based on language, settings and an assault scene, I would recommend this book to anyone aged 15 and above.
