What scares you the most? I am most scared by the thought of something happening to my children.
What makes you happiest? My kids! Anytime I am feeling down, they are always the first to make me realize how lucky I am. The 2nd thing that makes me happiest though is writing!
What’s your greatest character strength? My greatest character strength is that I am very understanding and forgiving.
What’s your weakest character trait? My weakest character trait is that I am forgiving and understanding when I should stand my ground and not let people bring me down.
Why do you write? I write because it is a creative outlet that allows me to challenge myself to accomplish something great.
Have you always enjoyed writing? I have always loved to write, but was discouraged early on by a teacher in elementary school. It took me until adulthood to actually pen my first novel.
Who is your favorite author? I don’t think that I could ever choose just one author, but Cassandra Clare and Jessica Sorenson are two in my genre that I absolutely love!
What book genre of books do you adore? I love YA Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, New Adult, Contemporary Romance…let’s just say I like romanceJ
What book should everybody read at least once? The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Amazing writing and storytelling.
Location and life experiences can really influence writing, tell us where you grew up and where you now live? I spent the first twelve years of my life living on Ocean County, NJ. My mom and dad divorced when I was one, leaving my mom to raise my twin sister and older brother on her own. Luckily we have a very close family and I spent my early years constantly surrounded by family at the Jersey Shore. I am extremely close with all of my Jersey family, and it is also the setting for many of my books.
When I was twelve, my mom remarried an amazing man and we all moved to California, where I live today. I love living in California and was blessed to meet my husband eighteen years ago and have built a loving family together. We still go back to NJ at least once a year and I have remained very close with my family back East.
Where do you get your inspiration from? I get my inspiration from everything and anything…people watching, friends, teaching, my kids, other books, family.
What is hardest – getting published, writing or marketing? The hardest part for me is definitely marketing. I am a somewhat shy person and new to the writing world. I am still trying to figure out what works, and also find the time to figure everything out on my own.
