Author Spotlight on Ben Galley

Tell us about your new book? What’s it about and why did you write it?
My newest book is the end of my Emaneska Series, a dark fantasy series that I’ve been writing and publishing over the last five years. It’s called Dead Stars - Part Two, and it brings the entire Series to a close with a stunningly epic finale, juggling a dozen characters, and wrapping up several thousand years’ worth of plot-line.

If you could have a dinner party and invite anyone dead or alive, who would you ask?
That would have to be Charles Dickens, Leonardo DaVinci, and Admiral Nelson.

What’s your favorite meal?
I’m a huge fan of Indian and also Italian cuisine. I’ve tried to combine the two, but with some disastrous results...

What color represents your personality the most?
Blue.

What movie do you love to watch?
Fight Club - it was a great book, and an even better film!

How do you feel about social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter? Are they a good thing?
Absolutely! With them I communicate and respond, real-time, with anybody in the world. It helps me stay connected and relevant to my fans.

If you could do any job in the world what would you do?
I’m already doing it - being an author. Though a runner-up would have to be an astronaut.

How do you think people perceive writers?
I think there’s the old romantic view of writers - eccentric sorts, cooped up in an old garden shed, poking at a typewriter, dreaming up stories, guzzling coffee by the gallon. It’s a great stereotype, and I do like it. However, it doesn’t depict me at all! (all except the eccentric bit…)

What’s your next project?
My next project is a graphic novel version of my debut book - The Written, which was the first book in my Emaneska Series. It’s being drawn at the moment, and I’ve raised the money for it via a successful project on Kickstarter, which I was very pleased with.

What would you love to produce in your life?
A series of films based on books of The Emaneska Series. Hollywood, if you’re reading this - I’m happy to talk.

What’s the reason for your life? Have you figured out your reason for being here yet?
To write. It’s as simple as that for me. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.
