Tell us a bit about your family.
My family originally comes from Russia. I was born in Moscow, but
have lived most of my adult life in New York. I currently reside in New
Jersey with my husband and children.
How do you work through self-doubts and fear?
I try to put things in perspective and visualize the worst possible
outcome and how I would deal with it. I generally prepare for the
worst, but hope for the best.
What scares you the most?
I’m afraid of losing the people I love.
What makes you happiest?
I’m usually happiest when I’m en route somewhere. I love going
places, and I tend to enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
What’s your greatest character strength?
I’m very pragmatic, so I tend to outline my options and choose the best one.
What’s your weakest character trait?
I have a hard time keeping a secret, especially a juicy one.
Why do you write?
Writing takes me to another time and place. It’s a form of mental
time-travel and I get to navigate where I go and for how long. I get
completely lost in the story.
Have you always enjoyed writing?
I’ve always enjoyed reading, but I didn’t start to write until a few
years ago. It was as if an invisible force was dragging me to the
computer, willing me to write something. Once I started, I couldn’t
stop.
What motivates you to write?
I have all these characters in my head that won’t stop talking. They demand that their story be told.
What are you most proud of in your personal life?
I’m very proud of my autistic’s son’s progress. He’s come a very long way.
What books did you love growing up?
I’ve always loved history. Anything that took place in the past, especially in some exotic locale, was a must.
