Author Interview – Matthew Yaeger

Tell us a bit about your family. I have a lovely patient wife named Karen and two cats who assume, correctly, that my wife is the alpha cat in our house.

What is your favorite quality about yourself? My high self esteem

What is your least favorite quality about yourself? How terrible I am at everything

What is your favorite quote, by whom, and why? I’m paraphrasing because I can’t remember the exact quote, but in Elmore Leonard’s Blood Money one character says ‘Does it matter if I die here or in Mexico?  It’s the same distance to hell’.  Because that’s awesome.

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your life? My relationship with my wife.  She’s my best friend, the first person who reads my work, and I’m amazed each day that I’ve somehow not managed to mess it up.

What is your favorite color? Blue.

What is your favorite food? Bacon

What’s your favorite place in the entire world? Home.

How has your upbringing influenced your writing? That’d be a longer story.  Short version, I spent quite a bit of time in my room reading, and was given a lot of books by my Aunt.  Stories have always fascinated me, and dreaming up stories was a great form of escapism.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated? Earliest I can remember there was some kind of writing test in 4th grade, we had to write a story in this booklet that was included within a time limit, and when the time limit expired I was pissed off because I wasn’t done yet.  I felt strongly that I really needed to finish telling about the alien invasion of an ice cream factory.

When and why did you begin writing? I can’t remember exactly when or why I started, I don’t know.  Never really thought about it.  I would think of stories and want to write them down so I wouldn’t forget about them.

A collection of horror stories that will disturb your sleep, and if you already have trouble sleeping at night then why not have a good reason for it? Inside of this book are stories that range from psychological terror to physical incarnations of horror.

Two boys find an ancient book and test the boundaries of friendship…
Two women compete for superiority in a grisly war at a bordello in Texas…
A Zombie Pub Crawl will end in bloodshed…
And more.

If you’re looking for stories about zombies, trolls, amputation, nightmares and more, then this book is for you. These stories can be purchased separately on the Kindle marketplace as well, but cost less when purchased together.
