Chasing the Lost by Bob Mayer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
You know the feeling when you've read all the author's books, then you get the chance to meet them (virtually or in real life) and you get a bit insight on how what makes him tick. I was beyond excited to read this book as part of Bob Mayer's book tour and my book club members and I are having so much fun dissecting this book.
My favourite scene is onboard the Fina when Mayer writes, "The stream narrowed until reeds were brushing against both sides of the Fina." What follows is words that are somewhat gentle and descriptive but with strong undertones.
The military angle in this book like all others is spot on. He also uncovers the emotional side of "always being told what to do" and you fall in love with his writing and are captivated by the characters from start to end.
As always, another stunning piece by Bob Mayer.
Would I recommend this read? Oh yes, definitely.
