How to research your story before writing your book
by Chris Wager
In Stow Away I was going for authenticity making doing research very important which meant everything from where my main actor lived to what he ate and wore had to be checked and double checked. How the actors spoke, the relationships of the actors, how their environment worked and how they interacted with it.
I made a list and went systematically until everything was checked and crossed checked against other resources. This helped be write as well, to feel as if I was living with my actors in their environment. Cross checking information is important to prove your facts.
