Author Interview – Paul Harry

How long have you been writing? I remember seeing dinosaurs as a young child.

When did you first know you could be a writer? When we got standing ovations for the rock opera and later taking 3rd place in the Nevada Screenwriting Competition. It was then that I figured I was on to something.

What inspires you to write and why? I love the crafting of the story, plotting the details, weaving the fabric. It gives me sanity and hearing praise from others feeds my ego.

What genre are you most comfortable writing? I tend to stay with the realm of Science fiction, but I can branch out when necessary.

What inspired you to write your first book? A friend had lent me a book knowing how much I loved science fiction and that I was extremely curious about the world and universe around us. The book was called the ‘Urantia” book and it was a marvelous tome detailing the history of everything. In my enthusiasm I pondered all the questions I ever had about how we got here and why. One of those questions was about Adam and Eve and what I read blew me away. The details behind what happened to them made so much sense then the mythical biblical tale–it just stunned me. As I read their history I realized that in my hands was a story so powerful, so tragically human, that it begged to be told and I knew I had to write their story. So I did.

Thirty-five years later, after my success with ‘The 5 Moons of Tiiana’ I took ‘THE GARDEN’ out of the vault and gave it a review. Again I realized what a great story it was, but this time things were different. The ‘Urantia” book had fallen into the realm of public domain and Amazon was a writer’s avenue to publication so I cleaned up the story and published it, giving credit to the Urantia Foundation for their contribution.

Did writing this book teach you anything and what was it? That there is a time and place for your work even if your ahead of schedule.

Do you intend to make writing a career? Looks that way.
