Author Interview – Lee Evans

What is your favorite color? I love pink.  When I was in school, I had a pink binder, pink loose leaf and a pink pen with pink ink. (I have gotten over my pink issues, though.)

What is your favorite food? I love lasagna, macaroni and cheese and ribs.  Diet foods!

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated? I remember always having a little book with a small story in it.  It started pretty young.  I remember my teacher asking me to read something that I had prepared for class aloud to the other students.  I was very nervous, but when I finished she said that I was an amazing writer.  I was shocked, because it was the first time someone told me that I was any good.  It really made a difference.  Teachers have such a powerful effect on children.

What genre are you most comfortable writing? I am most comfortable with non-fiction, however, I am considering writing a romantic suspense story.  I love Nora Roberts, particularly her earlier works.  I may try at some later date.

What inspired you to write your first book? I was so excited to make the transition from a work in the office person to a work at home person, I wanted to share that excitement with others.  I am as excited now as I was the first day that I stopped working at my old job.

Did writing this book teach you anything and what was it? I always thought that I was skilled at English grammar.  My grades in the subject were always excellent.  All of a sudden I question every sentence that I write.  I am going to take a refresher course so that I can brush up on my skills and stop questioning myself.

Do you intend to make writing a career? Absolutely!  I have never enjoyed anything else as much as my writing career and helping people find work.

Have you ever had writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it? Yes.  I have writers block at times.  I find that going out and doing something else, particularly getting fresh air helps me get back into the swing of things.

What was the hardest part about writing this book? I had to spend a lot of time researching each of the companies that I have included in my books.  It takes a lot of time and since there are so many companies, I spend many hours investigating.

Will you write others in this same genre? I have three books out at this time, with a fourth due out at the beginning of February.  They are all part of the Job Search Series and the “Killer Work from Home Jobs” brand.
