Here's another under appreciated story. I like it very much that the author admits this was a true story and whatever gaps that popped up were filled with fiction. Of course, as you read it, you're cracking your head wondering which is which. Some parts of it are so touching and sad, you tell yourself, 'this must be the fiction bits' because you cannot imagine anyone going through such upheavals in life.
And yet, if this sadness wasn't there, this book and story and might not have reached as well. How much would you sacrifice for family? Is blood really thicker than water? Would all the hardship you go through be one day worthwhile as you come to terms with a family that is happy? Which then brings up the most important question of all? What is happiness?
This is an important read for anyone who is questioning family relationships or who is at the brink of trying to figure out what comes next in the family life. Yes, so it's not 100 per cent true, but I assure you, it will touch you in a very real manner.
Would I recommend this read? Oh yes, definitely. Especially for any mother or woman who is about to start her own family.

I read this in 4 days (which for me is very fast). I loved reading about a strong woman who had to make tough choices and who had so many unexpected trials when she was quite young. I also liked the juxtapos
ition of her with her sister who began their solo lives with the same challenge but only one chose to let romance back into her life with all its twists, turns, and turmoil; over and over again. My college aged daughter is now reading and enjoying this story. There is lots of dialogue so the story keeps moving you along.
