The Fishers of Paradise by Rachael Preston
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The present tense took some getting used to but this does not reflect the author's writing style, I am just used to reading books in the past tense. Rachael's writing flows smoothly but I somehow felt that some of the characters were given too much space but yet played too little a role in the story itself.
The setting and the dysfunctionality has a strong resemblance to books like Nora Roberts and Jackie Collins. The main characters like Ray, seemed easy to connect with at some points but failed to hold me in some chapters which is the only thing that prevents me from giving it a full 5-stars.
Would I recommend this read? Sure, to any patient reader.
