Ride the Tiger by Pat Silver-Lasky
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Never judge a book by it's cover and this is certainly one of them. If I had seen this book by it's cover alone, it had nothing to draw me to the story. But halfway into the story you are so engrossed, you don't want to stop until you have all the answers. In true, Hollywood fashion this book has a little bit of everything. Greed, sex, fame, fortune, loss, betrayal ...
In some ways, I felt it was a cross between Sunset Boulevard, Mulholland Drive and Magnolia. You have all these little stories that make up one big story but can you catch all the small ones? The alternating scenes are riveting and of course, keep the story riveting.
The language is colourful and not in a way I would recommend to my children but had this been removed, a reader may have lost some realistic aspects of the characters, I think.
Would I recommend this read? Sure, but you'll need an open mind.
Overall assessment:
Content: 4/5
Editing: 4/5
Formatting: 4/5
Pacing: 4/5
Offensive content?: NC17 to R mostly for content and language.
