NO EXIT by Hamilton C. Burger
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Remember the days when kids used to play outside ... no iPads, no Play Station and the only Angry Birds were actual birds? This book captures all of those moments. The kids are inquisitive and stumble onto an adventure that has you turning the pages.
They become embroiled in local politics which may or may not make local celebrities. There is something chirpy about the way this book is written. Each character is developed and shared with the reader as if they are the kids down the road.
The language is simple and to the point which makes it easy for a young reader to keep up. There is no twisted plot and for a child looking for his first 'long' book, the Apple Grove is definitely the way to go.
Would I recommend this read? Oh yes, definitely.
