#PUYB Book Review - Terminal Ambition by Kate McGuinness

Terminal Ambition, A Maggie Mahoney NovelTerminal Ambition, A Maggie Mahoney Novel by Kate McGuinness
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This isn't your regular mystery where evidence needs to be sought for a murder or crime that has been committed. The tones of this book are a cross between the movies Fatal Attraction and Disclosure; and the writing styles of John Grisham and JD Robb (Nora Roberts). Yes, suspense filled as you can see.

There were tiny bits that I felt needed a bit more explanation or could have been done differently but this isn't a reflection on the author's skills. It's just me being a reader with one too many questions. For instance, why did Maggie's husband have to be dead? Did it give her character more time to devote to the cause?

What I did like about Kate's writing style was it's crispness. Not abrupt but to the point and yet she is able to unfold the plot while the reader stays glued with anticipation.

Would I recommend this read? Oh so definitely.

Overall assessment:
Content: 4/5
Editing: 4.5/5
Formatting: 4/5
Pacing: 3.5/5
Offensive content?: I would rate it PG13 or at least for teens 15 and above. The book is centred on sexual harassment and hence, unsuitable for anyone younger.

Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the author through Pump Up Your Book Virtual Tours. I did not receive any payment in exchange for this review nor was I obligated to write a positive one.
